Gussie Clarke

Today’s person imma blog about is Gussie Glarke.

Augustus “Gussie” Clarke (born 1953, Kingston, Jamaica), is a reggae producer who worked with some of the top Jamaican reggae artists in the 1970s and later set up his own Music Works studio.

I met Gussie at Anchor Studio in 2005. Lemme tell you how the connection was made.

In 2004 i did the Spiritual War Rhythm with Radic for his song entitled “Spiritual War” in which APS production guys who i was working with, they hustled the rhythm to gyptian’s producer, “spragga” who voiced Gyptian on the rhythm . It was all a complicated scenario, so i was advised to look for a publisher. Someone referred me to Gussie who they said was the best in the Caribbean so i started to inquire. My friend Roneisha, who was also pursuing her singing career i did some tracks for her in my home studio setup and Gussie heard the tracks and were interested in signing me to his company. I got signed in June 2005 to a publishing deal, as i was very excited and hungry to do music, i frequently started to visit Anchor Studio to learn as much as i can from any and everybody. It was there i started to use protools and got the chance to be exposed to studio technologies. Gussie provided a room for me and other creators to expound on our talent. I even referred a few friends to Gussie to get signed and we worked on projects with Gussie.

Well big up to Gussie, i got to meet a lot of influential people in the music business, I got a chance to have publishing interests on Rihanna’s first official album “A Girl Like Me”, I mixed my first movie “Glory to Glorianna”, i learned protools, i learned the music business, etc.

Right now he continues to be one of the most influential persons in the Jamaican music industry, also being the authorized Digidesign dealer in Jamaica. Read the rest of this entry »

Mark Howard

Mark Howard (born June 8, 1964 in ManchesterEngland) is a Canadian record producer, engineer, and mixer. He has worked with many artists including Bob DylanTom WaitsLucinda WilliamsWillie NelsonMarianne FaithfulEmmylou HarrisU2Peter GabrielR.E.M. and The Neville Brothers.

Mark came to Geejam Studios last year in March 2009 and returned because he loved the Jamaican vibe and wanted me to play drums on the record that he was producing. The artiste that we produced is Rocco Deluca, i will tell you more aboutn him in a another post. It was a great time, I really enjoyed the session. We had fun. I played drums on all the sessions, i also played bass on all the sessions. I just  had fun while i was doing it.

It was a stringent 8 days of sessions. I engineered also. Mark is a great producer. We had conversations and bonded. I even found out that he worked with Lucky Dube. I rate Lucky Dube, I think he is really a great artiste. RIP.

All the time working with Mark it does a mountain of good for me. I get to see how real music is produced, and this man, has a mountain of knowledge. Sometimes i would be there and playing the drums, he allow me to incorporate my ideas into the record as well as he provided his feedback. In the sessions, he brought his vintage mics and we used them, they were so kewl.

I’d do it over and over again, to work with Mark. As soon as the record is out, or as soon as i have snippets available, i will provide them to you guys. Thanks for Passing by, imma share some pics. God bless.

Hey Bloggers

Hey Friends what’s up? I know its been a long time since i have blogged about anything. I am still around, don’t worry. Happy New Year to all. My heart also goes out to the victims in the earthquake in Haiti, and to think that could have been us. Look how near Haiti is to us. I hate earthquakes. Darn…

From the reports that i have been seeing, some meteorologist state the there could be more earthquakes coming soon. Actually it seems something strange is happening to the world. I watched 2012, and it seems as if its the same thing that is happening. Can the world come to an end in 2 years? Can all the prophesies in the bible be full filled within 2 years?
