Earthquake in Jamaica

The Seismic Unit at the University of the West Indies has confirmed that an earthquake was felt in sections of Jamaica about 3:56 Wednesday afternoon.

Persons in St. Mary, Portland, St. Thomas and Kingston and St. Andrew reported feeling the tremor.

The magnitude of the earthquake or its location is not clear as the Earthquake Unit says it is still deciphering the information.

The epicenter was located near Chestervale in St. Andrew with a magnitude of 3.7 and a focal depth of 9.9 kilometres.

Earthquake in Cayman Islands

There are reports surfacing that there was an earthquake in the Cayman Islands a short while ago.

The quake was reportedly felt in Montego Bay, Jamaica, Cuba and Miami.

A Jamaican living in Grand Cayman said it lasted a few seconds but nothing appeared to have been damaged. He said residents are quite shaken.

Reports circulating on Twitter suggest that the earthquake measured 5.8 on the Richter Scale.

Last Tuesday a 7.0 earthquake rocked Port-au-Prince, Haiti killing thousands and causing massive destruction.

Last Friday there was also an earthquake in Venezuela and yesterday there was earthquake in Guatemala.

Hey Friends what’s up? I know its been a long time since i have blogged about anything. I am still around, don’t worry. Happy New Year to all. My heart also goes out to the victims in the earthquake in Haiti, and to think that could have been us. Look how near Haiti is to us. I hate earthquakes. Darn…

From the reports that i have been seeing, some meteorologist state the there could be more earthquakes coming soon. Actually it seems something strange is happening to the world. I watched 2012, and it seems as if its the same thing that is happening. Can the world come to an end in 2 years? Can all the prophesies in the bible be full filled within 2 years?

BlackBerry Outage Affecting North America

A number of users are reporting issues with a number of data-centric BlackBerry services including BlackBerry Messenger, the web browser, and third-party apps using data connections. BlackBerry Reporter speculates the BlackBerry Internet Service (BIS) may have been down for several hours and counting.

This comes less than a week after the last outage in North America, although not all carriers or customers may be affected.

Some folks are reporting service being restored, while others are still reporting ongoing issues with various data services. Are you having issues with your BlackBerry service currently?

American Airlines Flight Crashes at Jamaica Airport

BREAKING NEWS — An American Airlines plane skidded off the runway and broke in two after landing in Kingston, Jamaica, shortly after 10 p.m. local time Tuesday, according to local news reports.

Airline spokesman Charlie Wilson said in a short statement there were no immediate reports of fatalities or injuries.

Additional details were not available, but passengers at Norman Manley International Airport told local media that flight 331 had just arrived from Miami in heavy rain when the crash occurred.

The flight apparently originated in Washington, D.C.

An airport official said the plane overshot the runway and persons were being evacuated, with some sent to hospital.

“The plane crashed and broke almost in front of me,” said passenger Naomi Palmer to the Jamaica Observer. Palmer said she was in some pain.

Emergency vehicle sirens could be heard as she spoke via cell phone.
